About CoA Apps

CoA Apps is built by Carrie, an accessibility consultant and content creator who is legally blind and lives with a condition called aniridia. Carrie uses a screen reader (NVDA) and other low-vision accommodations every day — which means every app here starts from lived experience, not just theory.

Who's Behind This

Carrie works with Fable and other companies to help make digital products and experiences more accessible. She's also a content creator, covering accessibility across apps, mainstream devices, and dedicated assistive technology — because so much of what's out there, and how to actually use it, simply isn't known or easy to find. A lot of that technology is hard to access too, whether that's the cost or it just not being available where you live.

Trying an assistive device before committing to it isn't something most people get to do — there's no real equivalent of trying out a laptop at a store — and most mainstream tech reviews don't talk about accessibility at all. Carrie's content and consulting work exist to help close that gap. CoA Apps grew out of that same drive — a place to actually build the tools that solve the problems she runs into, instead of just describing them.

Why CoA Apps Exists

Accessibility isn't abstract for Carrie or her family. Her dad is totally blind. Her son, her sister, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins are blind or visually impaired too, along with many close friends. CoA Apps exists to solve real problems that she, her family, and people like them run into every day — the kind of everyday friction that's easy to overlook if you've never lived with it.

With the help of AI, building tools like this — as one person, alongside everything else she does — has finally become genuinely possible.
