Privacy Policy for Access-a-Lyrics

Access-a-Lyrics ("the app") is a free web app developed by Carrie on Accessibility. This policy explains what information the app handles and how.
Summary
Access-a-Lyrics has no accounts, no analytics, and no advertising. The public domain hymns built into the app, any lyrics you add yourself, your playlists, and your display and speech preferences are all saved only in your browser's local storage, on your own device. Nothing is uploaded anywhere. If you use the Read Aloud feature, your browser (not CoA Apps) generates the speech using its own built-in text-to-speech voices.
What Is Stored, and Where
Access-a-Lyrics stores everything using your browser's local storage, directly on your device:
- Any lyrics you paste in and save, along with their title and description.
- Any playlists you build, and the order of songs within them.
- Your lyrics display preferences (mode, background shade, text color, font, and text size).
- Your app-wide preferences (interface size, whether Read Aloud controls are shown, speech speed, and speech voice).
None of this is transmitted to us or to anyone else. It stays on your device and browser, and is only used to show your library, playlists, and preferences back to you the next time you open the app in the same browser. The public domain hymns that ship with the app are built into the app's code, not fetched from any server.
Text-to-Speech
The Read Aloud feature uses your browser's or device's built-in text-to-speech voices. Exactly how that speech is generated (entirely on your device, or partly using a network-based voice) depends on your browser, operating system, and which voice you've selected — this is standard behavior of your browser's speech features and is not something Access-a-Lyrics controls or adds to.
What We Don't Do
- We do not require or offer accounts, sign-in, or authentication of any kind.
- We do not collect personally identifiable information, health information, financial information, personal communications, or browsing history.
- We do not use analytics or tracking of our own, and we do not display advertising.
- We do not sell, rent, or share your data with any third party, because we do not collect or have access to it in the first place.
- There is currently no way to sync your library across devices or share songs and playlists with anyone else — everything lives only in the one browser you're using.
Your Control Over Your Data
- You can edit or delete any song you've added, and edit, reorder, or delete any playlist, directly within the app.
- You can clear all saved data at any time by clearing your browser's local storage/site data for this app, or by using your browser's private/incognito mode.
- Because there is no account and no server-side storage, there is nothing for us to delete on our end — everything lives in your own browser.
Children's Privacy
Access-a-Lyrics does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children, because it does not collect personal information from anyone at all — everything you add stays on your own device.
Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes — for example, if a future version adds optional account sync or sharing — the updated version will be posted here with a new "Last Updated" date.
