Privacy Policy for Story Creator

Story Creator ("the tool") is a browser-based tool for writing and playing branching stories, developed by Carrie on Accessibility. This policy explains what information the tool handles and how.

Summary

The tool does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any of your data with anyone, including us. Every story you write, every project, and every display or speech preference you set stays on your own device. There is no account to create, no server involved, and no analytics or tracking of any kind.

What Is Stored, and Where

Everything — your projects list, every scene and choice you write, and your display, autosave, and speech settings — is stored using your browser's local storage, directly on your own device. None of it is transmitted anywhere, because the tool has no server to send it to.

If you use the Export feature, the resulting .ink file is generated in your browser and downloaded straight to your device — it never passes through us or anyone else.

Text-to-Speech

Read Aloud and the Speech setting use your browser's and device's own built-in text-to-speech voices. The text being read is handed to your browser's speech engine locally; it is not sent to any external service by the tool.

What We Don't Do

• We do not collect personally identifiable information, since the tool has no accounts and no server.
• We do not use analytics or tracking of any kind.
• We do not display advertising.
• We do not sell, rent, or share your data with any third party, because we do not have access to it in the first place.

Your Control Over Your Data

• You can delete a project at any time from the Projects page.
• Clearing your browser's site data for this page removes everything the tool has stored, since that's the only place it exists.
• Export lets you save a copy of a story to your own device at any time.

Children's Privacy

The tool does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children, because it does not collect information from anyone at all — everything stays on the user's own device.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new "Last Updated" date.
