Privacy Policy for Math Collapse

Math Collapse ("the game") is a browser game developed by Carrie on Accessibility. Unlike the rest of the CoA Apps website, Math Collapse does use a backend service — Google Firebase — to run its leaderboard and remember your display name. This policy explains what that involves.

Summary

Math Collapse stores the minimum needed to run a public leaderboard: a per-device identifier, a display name, and your scores. It does not collect your real name, email address, or any other personal information unless you choose to sign in with Google, in which case Google's own sign-in process applies its own privacy practices to that step.

Signing In

When you open Math Collapse, you're automatically given an anonymous guest identity via Firebase Authentication, so the leaderboard and your display name work right away with no sign-up required. You can optionally sign in with a Google account from the Account menu. Doing so links your existing guest identity to that Google account, so your display name and scores carry forward rather than starting over. We only receive basic account info from Google (your name and a unique identifier) needed to complete sign-in — we do not receive your Google password, email content, or access to any other Google data.

What Is Stored, and Where

The following is stored in our Firebase project (Google Cloud infrastructure), not on your device alone:

• A unique account identifier (either an anonymous guest ID, or your Google account ID if you've signed in).
• Your chosen display name (or your Google account name, if you sign in and haven't set a custom one).
• Your game scores, levels reached, and which operation (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) each score was earned in, each with a timestamp.

The leaderboard is public. Your display name and scores are visible to anyone who opens the Leaderboard screen in the game. Choose a display name you're comfortable with other players seeing — it doesn't need to be your real name.

Your display name is also cached locally in your browser's local storage, so it can be shown immediately without waiting on a network request.

What We Don't Do

• We do not collect your email address, real name (unless you choose to sign in with Google and don't override the display name it provides), physical location, or payment information.
• We do not use advertising or third-party analytics beyond standard, aggregated Google Analytics/Firebase usage metrics (page views and basic device/browser info) used to understand how the game is used.
• We do not sell or rent your data to anyone.

Your Control Over Your Data

• You can change your display name at any time from the Account menu.
• Playing as a guest (without signing in) means your scores are tied only to that anonymous identity on that device/browser — clearing your browser's site data will disconnect you from it.
• To request deletion of your leaderboard data, contact us using the email below with your display name so we can locate and remove it.

Children's Privacy

Math Collapse does not knowingly collect personal information from children beyond the anonymous guest identity and display name described above, both of which are designed to avoid requiring any real personal information to play.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new "Last Updated" date.
